Meet the Team

Renos has been the Rector of St Martin’s since 2015.  Prior to that he worked as a practice manager and management consultant in general practice whilst serving as an Ordained Local Minister in Cobham.  He is married to Jo and they have three grown-up children.  As well as leading worship and preaching Renos plays the guitar and sings on Sundays.  In addition to his responsibilities at St Martin’s, Renos is also the Area Dean for the Leatherhead Deanery.

Ellie was ordained and joined St Martin’s Church as assistant curate in July 2023.  Before that she taught in middle and primary schools, was a full-time Mum and housewife, and a Children and Families’ worker in a village church.  She is married to Richard and they have 2 sons, a Labrador and a very fluffy cat.  Ellie loves walking in the Surrey Hills, curling up on a sofa with a cup of tea and a good book, meals with friends and making pottery.

After 25 years as a wife and mother, Sandy was ordained to non-stipendiary ministry in Southwark in 1992 and moved here in 2006.  Widowed, with three children and three grandchildren, ministry at St Martin’s brings constant joy and amazement!  Singing, book groups, handcrafts all demand time and attention; life is never dull.

Claire is a member of the church council and leads on safeguarding.  She is a solicitor by profession and works with the Rector and PCC to ensure that we meet all our safeguding obligations.

Gareth Pont
Organist and Director of Music

Gareth has been the Organist and Director of Music at St. Martin’s Church since 1988. His musical experience spans the traditional classical to contemporary genres and, together with the Rector, he ensures that music at St Martin’s reflects the diversity of our worshippers.

Gareth is married to Fiona (who leads our choir). He is Musical Director and accompanist for a local drama group in Bookham, a post he has held since 1983. For his day job, he is a Chartered Electronics Engineer.
